Ministries

Sunday School

We offer Sunday School for Adults and Children at 10:00 a.m. every Sunday. The adult class meets in a room in the back of the sanctuary and studies the David C. Cook curriculum as a guide. Our two children’s classes (one for preschool-First Grade, and one for 2nd-5th grade) meet in classrooms downstairs in the education wing. Once a quarter, Pastor Erin offers special lessons in the fellowship hall with breakfast provided.

Women’s Ministry

Our United Methodist Women meet on the first Monday of most months at 10:00 a.m. in the fellowship hall. The purpose of United Methodist Women is to be a community of women, whose purpose it is know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concept of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

The UMW are missional in their purpose and seek to provide justice to women and children around the world. Our United Methodist Women have a hotdog and bake sale twice a year. The proceeds from the sale are given to local organizations such as On Eagle’s Wings, Catherine’s House, Girls on the Run, the Gaston Women’s Shelter, and feeding children during school breaks.

Women’s Bible Study

During the school Pastor Erin leads a women’s Bible Study for any woman who would like to attend (you do not have to be a member of the church to participate). In the past we have used DVD based studies by Melissa Spoelstra and Jessica LaGrone. We usually meet on Tuesdays from noon to 1:30 p.m. and bring our own lunches. Please check our website to see when our next study is to begin.

Music

Our chancel choir rehearses twice a month on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. The choir provides music at the beginning of worship and during the offering each week at our 11:00 a.m. worship service. We welcome new people into the choir. We try to do as the founder of Methodist, John Wesley, said, “sing spiritually. Have an eye to God in every word you sing. Aim at pleasing him more than yourself, or any other creature.”
