Reverand Tony Owens

Pastor's Bio

Rev. Tony Owens is the pastor of South Point United Methodist Church. He preaches, provides pastoral care, and helps the church in being led by Christ and telling the story of God through acts of love. He is passionate about helping people discover their identity as being loved by God and living out their faith through service in the community and to the world.

God calls us to live in Matthew 25:34-40, saying in part,

“‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’”

Tony graduated from Hood Theological Seminary with his Diploma in Christian Ministry and completed the Basic and Advanced Course of Study at Duke Divinity School. He is a Licensed Local Pastor in the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Tony served the Bethel-Bailey’s Chapel Charge beginning in 2006, Bethel in 2011, and the Bethel/Cooleemee Charge in 2017, all in Davie County; in 2018, Coburn Memorial/Main Street Charge in Salisbury; and in 2019, Lafayette Street in Shelby. In his spare time, Tony enjoys spen
